Towans Grasses

Towans is an anglicised version of Tewyn which is Cornish for sand dunes and appears in many place names in Cornwall such as Porthtowan, Carn Towan and the Towans. Dunes are often covered in hardy grasses which help to stabilise them and prevent erosion.

This 43cm x 30 original box canvas in oils depicts grasses above Gwithian Towans looking towards Godrevy Island and lighthouse.
